Would You Rather Wednesday

Antlers were the winner in last week's WYRW, but to be fair, I think this was in large part due to Erika's compelling argument about some childhood book I had actually never heard of. So props, Erika, on swaying the voters!

Moving along. Would you rather...

know there's a cockroach living in your bedroom but never be able to find (and kill) it

OR

have an intermittently chirping cricket living outside your bedroom window and never be able to find (and kill) it?

Things to consider:
- For option 1, the cockroach wouldn't stay in one place. There would be evidence of him traveling around your room.
- For option 2, please note that it is not a constant chirping, so it's unlikely that you would get used to it as continuous background noise. And no, you are not allowed to use a noise machine to drown out the cricket.
- For option 1 and 2, pest control companies are not an option.

I'm gonna go with the cricket, because 1. cockroaches are my least favorite bugs and 2. at least I would never have to worry about the cricket CRAWLING ON MY FACE while I slept, or touching all my things. And even if it was intermittent chirping, I think I could eventually get used to it! Kind of like people who live near train tracks.

The cricket, hands down. Cockroaches are so disgusting and carry disease!

I'll go with the cricket said th mother who just installed mosquito nets above her daughter's beds to protect them from flying insects at night... Geez. You would think we had moved to Equatorial Africa with the amount of little flying things that can come through open windows.

Going with cricket. Did not even have to read your "Things to consider!" :)

Definitely the cricket. Just the thought of a cockroach makes me shudder. We have train tracks right behind our neighborhood and we don't ever hear the train anymore.

(Though here's a thought - wonder if people would reconsider if it was a teensy baby cockroach and not one of the Godzilla-sized ones?)

(I'd still go with the cricket.)

Glad to know I can be so persuasive!! Should have stuck with law school! Oh well. Like my predecessors, I'll be choosing the cricket. Times infinity. I would probably choose a college MARCHING BAND in my backyard over a roach, if that gives you any idea of how strongly I'm going with the cricket here. Come to mama, you precious noisy little non-disgusting cricket!!!

Just going by cuteness standards, I would way rather have cute, little Jiminy Cricket chilling outside my window than a big, disgusting cockroach in my house!

I'm going cricket for like A MILLION reasons... the cricket is OUTSIDE, the cricket is not as disgusting, the cricket will not leap, fly, crawl or in others ways attack me, the cricket doesn't carry a bazillion diseases! I don't care if it's the world's smallest cockroach it would still be the grossest bug alive! No competition!

Normally I read but don't comment since it's hard to type one handed, but I think cockroaches are getting a bad rap so I have to stick up for them! Hahaha... what makes them dirtier than any other bug? If you never find it, then you never have to look at it (or hear it) and you can try to pretend it isn't even there. It's just another beetle. If lightning bug was an option, I bet people would be all over that!...They're basically the same minus the cool light up feature. ;)
Great wed. feature amanda!

I like the sound that crickets produce, so I'm going to go with option #2.

DEFINITELY the cricket. Cockroaches give me the heebie jeebies....I have goose bumps just thinking about it.

Um, definitely the cricket. However, if my choices were a lizard or a cockroach in my room, I would probably pick the cockroach. I really can't even think about either of these.

I was actually going to go with the cockroach. I obviously haven't had a lot of interactions with them though! If I knew it was there but never had to see or hear it, it basically wouldn't bother me. Right?!?!?!

Crickets... I'm sure my husband would get sick of hearing me scream, and I'm sure I'd get sick of hearing myself scream too! lol
