Let's start with Colby Wayne, aka: the Colby guy, buddy, little boy, dude, Porky (as in the pig).
Weight: 10 lbs, 13 oz (28th percentile)
Length: 21.5 inches (6th percentile)
Head: 15.51 inches (36th percentile)
Colby has evolved quite a bit in this last month- physically and otherwise! We call him Porky for fairly obvious reasons- this kid loves to eat. The other day he ate for an hour straight. I am not exaggerating. And I'm fairly certain that if I tried to feed him again 30 minutes later, he would have eaten more.
Colby definitely started out as our more "high maintenance" child, and in some ways he still is, but he has gotten a lot easier to handle. I am going to blame the first 6 weeks on colic, because he has been a lot less fussy ever since. And praise the Lord, he has been sleeping a lot better!
We get to see that cute smile fairly often- he is generally a pretty happy guy. However, he is also very sensitive. If Mommy puts him down and he isn't ready to be put down, there will be a giant pouty lip and the most pitiful cry ever accompanied by lots of tears.
Colby's current favorites: tummy time (that's actually how he spends most of his naps), eating, hanging out in the Baby Bjorn, eating, doing "activities" on the activity mat (staring at the animals and occasionally swatting at them), eating, "sitting" in the Bumbo, eating
Moving on to Clara Lane, aka: baby girl, little lady, little girl, Ducky:
Weight: 9 lbs, 13 oz (23rd percentile) - a full pound lighter than her brother!
Length: 22 inches (35th percentile)
Head: 14.76 inches (18th percentile)
Clara is still the more petite of the two, but she is definitely growing, and as evidenced above, it sometimes looks like all of that growth is occurring in her chins :)
We think she may have a little bit of reflux, so she isn't as big of a fan of eating as her fatty big brother and tends to spit up more. Brian will deny it, but I think Clara is already a daddy's girl and prefers him over me. I have to work to get a smile from her but she dishes them out to him like candy. Other things Clara smiles at fairly regularly: ceiling fans, light fixtures, blinds, and various inanimate objects. She also gave the windshield repairman a giant grin the other day, so that's special.
Clara's current favorites: anything upright (the nap nanny and bouncer being her preferred spots), hanging out in the Baby Bjorn, the pink bird on her bouncer, being held so she can look over people's shoulders, looking at lights, sabotaging diaper changes by peeing/pooping while they're occurring... and then again as soon as the diaper is changed
Here are a few pictures of the two of them together:
I love when they do synchronized poses like this!
There's Clara's duck face in action!
And as a bonus, here's a short video for your viewing pleasure:
And just because I think it's interesting to note, a few more facts:
Eating: nursing every 3 hours during the day
Sleeping: The norm lately has been for them to sleep from 8:30 pm-2:30 am and then from 3:30 am-7 am; however, on their 2-month birthday they surprised us by sleeping from 8:30 pm-5:30 am! As many of you saw on facebook, I, however, was wide awake from 3 am on waiting for them to get up. Fun times.
Clothes: They're both still wearing newborn sized clothes (or 0-3 month), but a certain chunky little boy has just about grown out of those.
All in all, the babies are doing well. Keeping in mind that they both started out below the 5th percentile in weight, we are thankful that they have grown like they have and hope they continue to do so. Happy 2 months, little babies! We love you!
